Description

The Jehovah's Witnesses constitute a Christian religious group founded in the United States at the end of the 19th century, characterized by being: a) fundamentalist (the most radical, proclaiming its members as the only true Christians and accepting controversial beliefs), b) anti-ecumenical (despising the other Christians), c) anti-trinitarian (denying the doctrine of the Trinity), d) apocalyptic (claiming that the events of the Apocalypse have already begun), and e) millenarian (affirming that Christ will rule for a thousand years).

According to their radical, discriminatory and sectarian attitudes, they stand out for defending controversial beliefs (many based on questionable and/or erroneous biblical interpretations, and in distorted passages of their Bible), and reject several contemporary customs (because these come from pagan practices).

Some of their beliefs are so controversial that these can´t be sustained by the correct interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. For example, the Jehovah's Witnesses believe that: they are the only true Christians, the Catholic Church is Babylon the Great, the doctrine of the Trinity is false, Jesus isn´t God, Jesus is the archangel Michael, the dead are unconscious (there is no hell), Jesus didn´t physically resurrect, Jesus didn´t die on a cross, Jesus must be named in the prayers, the pagan feasts must not be celebrated (not even the birthday), the blood transfusions are prohibited, the Baptism is only for adults, the Bible must be interpreted literally and the true Christian isn´t part of this world.

On the other hand, the Jehovah's Witnesses also are successful, being one of the fastest growing religious groups in the world. There are several factors that have influenced in their success, related to the functioning of its organization, which: responds adequately to unmet social needs, handles principles of visionary companies, appropriately guides on complex issues with academic and practical purposes, gives a new life to their members, and promises the end of injustices and the salvation.

However, the Jehovah's Witnesses' conduct is contrary to the true Christian message of love, peace, forgiveness, reconciliation and unity.
